New single ‘Crooked’ by Shaun O’Reilly

New single by half Irish London-based singer songwriter Shaun O’Reilly called ‘Crooked’, is an acoustic track which I’m a huge fan of. His lyrics are based on real life events, and some inspired by writers such as Irvine Welsh, Charles Bukowski and Hunter S Thompson.

Shaun used to play in Metal bands until he decided to go solo.

Shaun’s off to Lille, France, after discovering he has a fan base there.

And he’s a clearly talented individual after writing and recording a full album all in his bedroom, that’s what I love to see!

He’s fans of electric paces, Captain beefheart, Tom waits, Kelley joe phelps, and Alice in chains.

Shaun’s got plans for the new year to get stuck into writing new material and I can’t wait to see what he’s bringing.

If the single Crooked is anything to go by. There’s a moment in the song where he plucks a kind of ‘Crooked’ string that’s out of flow with the melody, and it’s interesting how that intrigued me into the song. He’s a great guitarist, and he’s got passionate vocals. The highly relatable lyric ‘Falling down while smiling’ shows you his character, when faced with bad times to always keep it positive and that’s what I’m all about.
